Story
The earth is invaded by aliens ! Kick their slimy ass as a human player or enslave humanity as the aliens.

How To Play
After you have chosen the species you want to play you will get basically two screens :
The headquarter screen
and the worldmap screen.
Headquarters gives you general information, and the events give you more specific information about each battlemap. The Worldmap screen shows you the battles available (dot with green around). To start a battle click on one of the dots and you will enter the
briefing screen
The game lasts for 10 days.
Buy stuff and once you're done start the combat by clicking the combat button.
First loading screen can be long (5 min) but next battles will be quicker (the textures are cached).
When the game starts you will get this interface when clicking on a unit
After selecting a unit you can use the right mouse button to get some options
To win the map you can either destroy all enemy forces or capture all strategic points.
Side note: there is a config file at squaremapCombatContent\scenes\battle\units\settings.txt where you can change unit
characteristics, use it at your own risk ! Some changes may not work.
Shortcuts (on the battlemap)
space: Displays line of sight, command radius(green), max vision radius(blue), strategic zones and viruses/microorganismsshift+left click: all squad goes to that position and takes covernumpad "-" + leftclick: The unit farthest away from the mouse pos is chosen to go to destinationnumpad "+" + leftclick: The unit closest away from the mouse pos is chosen to go to destinationD : Enter debugmode
Tactics
Basically always try to flank the enemy. You will be surprised how long a combat can last if you only attack the frontline. The game try to be realistic in the sense that a unit that know exactly where fire comes from and has cover will be almost impossible to kill. Use suppression ! Real combat uses this to break morale and create stress thus breaking enemy cohesion, this game tries to simulate this.
Inspiration
This game was inspired by the turn based game x-com and the close combat series for the gameplay.
War of the worlds, the thing and many 80' sci-fi b-movies was the inspiration for the overall design.
